Hyaluronic Acid

Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a natural substance of the connective tissue of the body, such as skin and cartilage. Hyaluronic acid injections are generally used to treat facial wrinkles and folds and to enhance the appearance of the lips. It works by replacing the HA in the face that has decrease over time, and restores the volume beneath the skin’s surface.

During the procedure, tiny amounts of HA are injected into your face through very fine needles. The treatment typically take less than 30 minutes and you can expect very little discomfort. Immediately following the injections, you may experience some redness and minor swelling but typically these disappear within two to three days. Most patients are able to resume normal activities immediately following treatment. .HA injections are typically maintained for eight to twelve months.

You should not confuse Botox with HA. Botox is used to treat dynamic wrinkles (apparent when we change our expression, frown, smile etc. ) present mainly on the upper face and HA to treat static wrinkles (present all the time) present mainly on the lower face.
